Science of the Spoken Word
Meeting the Challenges of Incarnation
I hope you have learned something about your divine nature from the teachings of the ascended masters covered on the preceding pages. The following is a recap of essential information previously covered that is a needed foundation for the next round of ideas and understanding.
You have hopefully learned that each of us was divinely created as an individual by our Father/Mother God, Alpha and Omega, in their image. And that image includes the I AM Presence and Causal Body. We know we spent a vast, timeless period dwelling in the spiritual levels of the cosmos experiencing and absorbing the perfection and beauty of God’s consciousness and being, which is infinitely more real and enthralling than the dense, physical world we currently inhabit while in incarnation.
It was the fall of consciousness on Terra and subsequent misqualification of energy by mankind that made our planet so dense and our own self-awareness limited mostly to the senses. While in incarnation, we are for the most part at a distance from direct contact with and awareness of the higher levels of our identity in God and the heaven world. However, it need not remain this way.
Being in incarnation in a physical world and beset with negative karma resulted in the separation of our soul from our God Presence, the I AM THAT I AM. Nevertheless, we are still connected to the God Presence by a cord of light (crystal cord) that sustains the three-fold flame burning in the heart. This flame is the essential life-force that sustains us. And portions of spiritual light energy descend over the crystal cord into the “body temple” at intervals throughout the day and night to energize our four lower bodies (etheric, mental, emotional, and physical), our organs, and consciousness.
Our Holy Christ Self is an aspect of our God Presence and it is assigned to be the mediator between our soul and God Presence. The Holy Christ Self is a part of our overall divine nature and is our ultimate teacher.
Before we begin each incarnation, heavenly beings known as the Great Karmic Board, who have access to the entire karmic record of our individual lifestream, assess the most important karmic issues and relationships we need to work on and establish a plan for the next incarnation. Planning and decisions are also guided by our own higher consciousness and are communicated to us before the incarnation is initiated.
When the soul leaves the etheric plane to take incarnation, a veil of forgetfulness descends so that the soul is cut off from the knowledge of prior lives and the karma thereof. This allows the soul to concentrate on the here and now of its new lifetime.
So, this is the general pattern we face as we strive to balance karma and fulfill the assigned purpose and goals of our current incarnation on the road to achieving our ultimate soul mission and return to God in the ritual of the ascension. And the reason the ascended masters have released their teachings is to help us be aware of these realities and proactively engage in the work we need to do to emancipate ourselves from the darkness that keeps us bound to unreality and self-destructive patterns sustained by ignorance and negative external influences.
Self-liberation using the Science of the Spoken Word
One of the most profound tools taught by the ascended masters is the use of the Science of the Spoken Word. It is a mystical science that has been used by the Almighty and spiritual devotees since the beginning to create, to sustain, and to change spiritual and physical conditions for the better.
The ascended masters are doing everything feasible to enable lightbearers on Terra to progress to higher consciousness. Remember that they are completely familiar with the challenges of the material world and are in the perfect position to help us in every way allowed by cosmic law. Use of the Science of the Spoken Word is an example of the advanced help they offer.
Consider in Genesis how God initiated the creation of the material universe with the fiat, “Let there be light! And there was light.” (Genesis 1:3)
Consider also how Jesus called Lazarus back into his body with the command, “Lazarus, come forth.” (John 11:43) His friend Lazarus had been dead for 4 days and placed in a tomb, but his life energy and soul returned to his body when Jesus spoke because it was God’s Will for him to do so. And this became one of Jesus great miracles, which was made possible by Jesus utilizing his mastery of the science of God’s energy.
And think of the event when Jesus calmed the raging storm on the Sea of Galilee with the command, “Peace, be still!” (Mark 4:37-41)
In the case of Creation, God released energy to start the process of the creation of form. And in the other examples, Jesus released energy to change two very different kinds of conditions: one to restore life and the other to neutralize the ferocity of a storm.
Since we are made in God’s image, also have access to powerful light energy through the spiritual center of our throat chakra to create and to accomplish positive change through sound and the spoken word.
Devotees of God have used the spoken word for thousands of years to develop and sustain their relationship with God and to invoke divine intercession. Practices include chants, such as Gregorian chants, mantras, such as those to Krisha, Shiva, Ganesa, and Kwan Yin, and rituals, such as the rosary to Mother Mary and church liturgy. Prior to recorded history and for millions of years, the spoken word included the giving of adoration to the Almighty and the invocation of light such as by priests and priestesses of the sacred fire on Lemuria and Atlantis to sustain the flow of divine blessings to the people and civilization.
In an updated approach to honoring and communicating with God, the Science of the Spoken Word as taught by the ascended masters focuses on the invocation of light through verbal prayers called "decrees" to raise consciousness and help align us with our Real Self. The energy we invoke also has the effect of transmuting negative karma and self-destructive behaviors which in turn helps bring society and civilization into harmony with divine patterns.
Remember the adage that Confucius taught more than 2,500 years ago for making a better world. If we want to make our planet a better place, we have to start with the self:
“To put the world in order, we must first put the nation in order; to put the nation in order, we must first put the family in order; to put the family in order; we must first cultivate our personal life; we must first set our hearts right.”

Decrees come in a variety of types including affirmations, invocations, commands, prayers, mantrums, and songs. Just as David in the Old Testament expressed his feelings and needs to God through psalms, we can open our hearts to God, implore the Lord’s intercession and guidance, send our praises and devotion to the Almighty, and commune with the Holy Spirit, all through decrees.
One essential fact about the decrees published by The Summit Lighthouse is each of them was written by an ascended master or inspired upon the messengers Mark and Elizabeth Clare Prophet to be written. This authorship ensures that each decree is pure in nature and “coded” by the Christ Mind to have an optimum beneficial effect when given with devotion and for a holy purpose, such as the blessing and healing of yourself or others.
The following decree is one of my favorites and was written by the ascended master Kuthumi, who was incarnated as Balthazar, one of Three Wise Men, who brought frankincense as a gift to honor the birth of Jesus. Kuthumi later embodied as Saint Francis of Assisi.

Radiating Light, intensified Light.
God Consumes my darkness,
Transmuting it into Light.
This day I AM a focus of the Central Sun.

Note that each “I AM” is capitalized since it indicates the name of God and the word “Light” is capitalized because it indicates divine, spiritual light/energy/consciousness not simply visual light. So, the statement “I AM Light” is affirming and strengthening your oneness with the divine light energy of your God Presence.

The decree is given a number of times to intensify the release of light. Each repetition of the decree multiplies the benefit geometrically. So giving the decree twice results in four times the energy of giving the decree once and giving three times gives nine times the action of giving it once. The amount of positive energy is squared with each repetition. You will also notice there is a tendency to raise the pitch of the decree as repetitions progress. This is also a sign of the intensification of the energy being invoked.
Many ascended masters have written decrees and songs that reflect the spiritual light/energy/consciousness of their particular chosen field of mastery and service to life. So, for example, the ascended master El Morya has written the decree “I AM God’s Will” because he is a devotee of God’s Will. He offers this decree for those who want to align their lives with God’s Willing that is already within them and also help align the world in the same way.
Here are some very real benefits available from using the Science of the Spoken Word. These are based upon my personal experience. The invocation of God’s energy can:

Balance the threefold flame in your heart so that your life is a harmonious expression of divine love, wisdom, and power and you are making progress in rediscovering your divine nature.

Target and heal any problem area in your life by focusing on a specific “ray” (color-frequency of spiritual light) most applicable to the situation. Each ray is tied to a specific chakra, as explained in the chakra section below. So, through decrees you can invoke the yellow light of wisdom of the crown chakra, the emerald green light of healing and vision of the third eye, the blue light of protection and God’s Will of the throat chakra, the pink light of divine love of the heart chakra, the purple and gold light of peace and ministration of the solar plexus chakra, the violet light of freedom and creativity of the seat of the soul chakra, and the white light of purity of the Divine Mother of the base of the spine chakra.

Overcome negative states of consciousness, such as self-condemnation, depression, and fear and help you overcome any and all addictions.

Help establish a flow of energy in your body to give you the go-power to get out of bed in the morning!

Invite the help of angels into your life. Angels respond to prayers and decrees that are in keeping with God’s Will. Keep in mind, angels can be invoked anywhere and at any time you need them. They are assigned to help us succeed in becoming more of our Higher Self and this includes everything from the mundane, such as finding lost car keys, to the profound, such as helping to rescue a person with suicidal thoughts. Angels are masters at providing comfort, upliftment, inspiration, and protection. The more often you call upon the angels, the more they will tarry with you and even stay with you, close at hand throughout the day. It is the spoken request or command that gives an angel the authority to act in your behalf. And you can invoke angels to help others as long as the request is in keeping with God’s Will and does not interfere with that person’s free will.
Each morning our God Presence assigns a packet of karma for us to balance. This is the daily admonition Jesus referred to in his statement, “Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.” (Matt. 6:34) Since it is our own karma, if we rely upon our God Presence and Holy Christ self to master it, we will be able to pass our tests and have a victory every day. If we are not willing to face that karma, it will build up day after day and become more and more difficult to handle. Using the Science of the Spoken Word every day is the most blessed way of connecting with our Higher Self and dealing with our daily karmic assignment in the most efficacious, painless, and joyous way.
The Structure and Function of the Chakras, our Spiritual Energy Centers
As taught by the ascended masters, our bodies have 7 major chakras, 5 secondary chakras, and 144 chakras in all. These are our spiritual energy centers that anchor and distribute spiritual light/energy/consciousness to our body, organs, and nervous system to sustain us.
The chakra system has been well known as part of the Hindu religion for thousands of years. You may have noticed that the health product industry in the West started to refer to the chakras in their advertising schemes several years ago. But, for the ascended masters, attention on the chakras is not a fad. They bring the highest understanding of the chakric system available and explain methods of purifying the chakras for good health and a balanced spiritual life.
The pure colors shown below are what we should visualize for our chakras. In the past, some clairvoyants have examined the chakras of a particular person and described images of orange, reds, and browns. Unfortunately, what has not been understood, is that the chakras of the average person show “muddied” colors due to the buildup of misqualified energy. So, while the clairvoyant was accurate, what has not been revealed is that these muddied colors do not represent what our chakras look like in our etheric bodies.
We are working to clean up our worlds so that colors in our chakras are clean and pure. These is much to learn about the chakras and aura in the ascended master teachings. Additional resources can be found on the Resources page.

Using your mind’s eye, try transferring this image of the chakras onto your own form to help you relate to the reality of the chakras and periodically visualize them within your body.
Decrees are effective because they engage the spiritual center of your throat chakra, which is the blue power energy center of your being. Consider that your voice is the expression of modulated sound energy that originated in your throat chakra. And also consider how precious and even sacred the process of speaking is; we use our voice to introduce ourselves to others, to express what we believe and what we stand for. So, in many ways, our speech defines who we are to other people.
Consider the statement in Isaiah 45:11: “Thus saith the LORD … Ask me of things concerning my sons, and concerning the work of my hands command ye me.” This is a clear indication that while we must always be humble before the Lord, he authorizes us to be bold in commanding his energy and righteousness to be active in our lives and the world.
It is the “speaking aloud” of prayer or command through the use of the throat chakra that gives it the unique impetus and power to send forth divine energy according to our word. And, interestingly enough, as light energy is expressed through the throat chakra, all of the chakras can simultaneously release their corresponding frequency of light energy as the divine decree goes forth to support and enhance the worded expression.
For example, if you feel yourself getting agitated in your solar plexus due to fear or anxiety, you can speak this fiat with calm strength into the core of the agitation, “In the name of Jesus Christ, Peace be Still!” (Do this only when you are alone, such as at home in a private space or driving alone in your car. You can give it 3 or 9 times to reinforce your command). This fiat activates the spiritual light of peace, which is the purple and gold energy of the solar plexus chakra to calm your feeling world. In this way, you can make the Science of the Spoken Word a powerful tool to develop harmony and mastery in your life.
I encourage you to consider this book which will help you build your understanding and faith as to why the Science of the Spoken Word really works. It is written by Mark and Elizabeth Clare Prophet and covers many topics including the overcoming of fear, the strengthening of the aura, the multiplication of light, invoking protection, transmutation of darkness using the violet flame, and using visualizations to maximize the benefits of decrees.

The Tube of Light decree is the starting point for your day that establishes a cylinder of white light around your form and fills it with the violet flame of blessing and mercy.
Archangel Michael has created decrees to provide additional blue fire sealing of your aura to negate harmful energies and even turn back physical danger. The third part of a basic sequence of decrees is invoking additional violet flame made available by Saint Germain to transmute (ie., change, transform, purify) our negative karma and burdensome energies.

The following is the Foreword to the decree book, written by the ascended master, El Morya.
“Thou shalt decree a thing and it shall be established unto thee!”
"Every moment each man or woman creates his own future. Life, which is a God-given gift, continually acts to fulfill man’s spoken or unspoken desires. Human thoughts and feelings are decrees in themselves and do produce with certainty and justice after their kind—whether joy or sorrow. Although they live in a sea of wisdom, most men create in ignorance; their lives are therefore a mixture of both good and bad, a chaotic outpicturing of the so-called wheel of fortune.
"Believing honest men and women want to rise above self-imposed bondage and would shed unhappy human qualities of thought and feeling—long endured but not cured—I AM offering these decrees to the world, in the sunlight of divine Love and Light. Their constant and faithful use will plant the ever-fertile ground of human consciousness with seeds of grace and sprouts of mercy. These in turn will yield the harvest of a new life, a personal harvest of harmony and abundance, quickly fulfilled at your call through individual growth and the expansion of God’s sacred fire.

Very good news! The energy we release in the giving of decrees is multiplied by the ascended masters.
In the early days of The Summit Lighthouse, the ascended master Lord Maitreya who sponsored the mystery school on Lemuria (see the "Sanat Kumara Rescued Terra" page), announced a dispensation from councils of the Great White Brotherhood to multiply the decree energy generated by students of the ascended masters. In a word, the multiplication factor is huge! The following is an excerpt of the announcement made by Lord Maitreya. His complete message explains that the Great White Brotherhood originated this gift to help students overcome the "tyranny of human consciousness" that eclipses God consciousness in the people. The complete dictation can be found in a Pearl of Wisdom as indicated by the endnote.
"I, Maitreya, say to you today that the ascended masters, in the great deliberations and councils of the Great White Brotherhood, have determined that human tyranny has too long held sway over the mass mind. Therefore we have asked for a great petition whereby the student body today shall be given that which is known as the full power of the ten thousand-times-ten-thousand!
"From this day henceforward, every decree that you utter shall be increased by the power of the ten thousand-times-ten-thousand!
"I, Maitreya, declare that those who give decrees from this day forward shall be creating a tremendous, impelling, swiftly moving acceleration which shall sweep through the earthly consciousness of mankind and compel this earth free! Endnote 1
The ascended masters considered the giving of their decrees as being so important they were able to obtain this multiplication factor, which means that every single decree you give can positively affect one hundred million people.
The ascended masters also explain in the mathematics of God that every decree you give is multiplied by the square of the number of times you give it. For example, if you give a decree one time, since 1 X 1 = 1, you end up with the same single decree worth of energy. However, if you give a decree three times, since 3 X 3 = 9, you end up with nine times the positive energy having only given the decree three times. Such is the generosity and available power of God in heaven relative to man on earth.

One further multiplication factor is the squaring factor of the number of people present giving a decree at the same time. If three people are giving a decree together, their decree energy represents a factor of 3 X 3 = 9. However, if five people are giving the decree together, their decree energy represents a factor of 5 X 5 = 25. The total decree energy being released for good and holy purposes is increased significantly for each person added to the group.
The concentrated decree power of a group of students, by the grace of God, has the capacity to nullify all kinds of negative energy and even effect physical conditions such as redirecting a storm away from a center of population.
Additional sample decrees
I encourage you to give decrees a try by dedicating some space in your life for these scientific, verbal prayers. You may feel the positive effects of decrees soon after you being to experiment with them. And as you develop a momentum of decreeing, such as giving a few decrees every morning, you will soon feel the protective “cushion” of light around you.

Give this decree in full voice when you are driving your car and softly on public forms of transportation. Visualize Archangel Michael and his legions of light accompanying you and sealing you, your loved ones and all other vehicles on land and sea and in the air in an invincible wall of blue-flame protection ring upon ring of intense sapphire-blue energy and see the mighty angel of the Lord’s host as your defender and the defender of all children of God.

Here is what this decree sounds like in a group. Listen and see if you can sense that this prayer is invoking the protective presence of the Archangel. Try giving the decree along with the group and see if you can feel a flow of energy.
Note: "Lord" is used in this prayer as a term of honor, denoting that Archangel Michael carries the power and presence of God.
